As part of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s program to support people and young people in the Mekong Delta provinces affected by drought and salinity, the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Young Entrepreneurs Association (VYEA) has donated 5,000 water bottles and 30 water tanks to the people of Ben Tre, Long An, Ca Mau, Tien Giang, and Vinh Long provinces.
From May 4th to 15th, the VYEA organized the distribution of 5,000 water bottles (19 liters each), 30 water tanks (1,000 liters each), along with many gifts and scholarships to support people and young people in areas affected by drought and salinity in the Mekong Delta. The total value of this aid package is over 600 million VND.
In Tien Giang, the VYEA donated 1,000 water bottles (19 liters each) and 10 water tanks (1,000 liters each) worth nearly 130 million VND to the people of Binh An commune, Go Cong Dong district.
Amidst the midday heat, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Tu from Binh An commune (Go Cong Dong district, Tien Giang province), along with hundreds of residents, gathered at the communal People’s Committee to receive fresh water from the program. “For nearly two months, drought and salinity have caused difficulties in our lives, especially regarding fresh water for drinking and daily use. Now, receiving fresh water from the program, not only me but also the people in the commune are very happy. We will use it sparingly so it lasts longer, waiting for the rain to come,” Mrs. Tu shared.
Speaking at the program, Mr. Duong Long Thanh, Vice President of the VYEA, said that in the face of complex weather conditions, prolonged drought, and localized shortages of domestic water in many areas, seriously affecting people’s lives and production, the Central Committee of the VYEA has called on youth entrepreneur associations and clubs in provinces and cities, as well as member businesses, to uphold the tradition of solidarity, mutual love, and the pioneering spirit of young entrepreneurs for the community, to participate in supporting people in drought and salinity-affected areas to overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.
In Ca Mau, the VYEA organized the donation of 1,000 water bottles (19 liters each) and 20 water tanks (1,000 liters each), totaling nearly 150 million VND, to the people of Khanh Hai commune, Tran Van Thoi district. Mr. Pham Thanh Duoc, Chairman of the Khanh Hai Commune People’s Committee, expressed his gratitude and highly appreciated the timely support of the VYEA to poor households, near-poor households, and households with particularly difficult circumstances in the area.
“These drops of compassionate water, imbued with affection, will help people reduce difficulties, gradually stabilize their lives, and contribute to the commune’s successful implementation of political tasks in the locality,” Mr. Duoc emphasized.
In Vinh Long and Long An, the VYEA also joined hands to donate 2,000 water bottles to people in Vung Liem district (Vinh Long) and Tan Tru district (Long An), contributing to mitigating the damage caused by drought and salinity.
“The water bottles and water containers donated in the program are meaningful and timely gifts, helping people to overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives,” said Mr. Ngo Tan Tai, Vice Chairman of the Tan Tru District People’s Committee.
“In the coming time, the VYEA will continue to mobilize organizations, individuals, and member businesses to contribute more resources to join forces with local authorities in implementing longer-term plans to support and provide clean water to people in drought and salinity-affected areas in the Mekong Delta provinces,” shared Mr. Dang Hong Anh, President of the VYEA. |
