In December 2011, the 4th National Congress of the Viet Nam Young Entrepreneurs Association (VYEA) for the term 2011-2014 was held in Hanoi with the participation of 600 delegates representing 64 provinces and cities, and many ministries and sectors.
At the congress, Mr. Mai Huu Tin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of U&I Investment Joint Stock Company, was elected as the President.
The 4th term of VYEA took place in the context of the Vietnamese economy facing many difficulties and challenges due to the negative impacts of the global economic-financial crisis, high inflation, and complicated developments. The trend of decreasing growth rate for a long time has threatened the stability of the macro economy. The young entrepreneurs movement was therefore also more or less affected.
However, with the action slogan of the term “Young Entrepreneurs – Big Aspirations”, under the guidance and creation of conditions by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Youth Union, with the efforts of the Association’s Standing Committee and the will and enthusiasm of all members, in the past term, VYEA has achieved many important results.
During the term, VYEA identified to promote activities to support members in developing sustainable businesses. The Association has focused on implementing many programs. In which, the program “Young Entrepreneurs Start-up, Build the Country” was launched with the aim of responding to the campaign “Youth to Start a Business, Make a Fortune Honestly” to promote the spirit of young entrepreneurs towards the community, for the development of the future generation.
The program was organized in many forms such as seminars on starting a business between typical young entrepreneurs and students from universities, attracting over 3,000 students and young people to participate; the model of “entrepreneurs’ coffee” was widely expanded in all provinces and cities across the country with hundreds of guests who are leading speakers and entrepreneurs.
Besides, the programs set out by the 4th VYEA Congress were implemented creatively and effectively, as shown through the contents of the Campaign for International Economic Integration of Young Entrepreneurs and Vietnamese Youth, key projects, and trade promotion programs.
International cooperation activities have made many new strides. VYEA has actively participated and contributed to the activities of regional multilateral organizations and forums, especially ASEAN. From 2012 to 2014, as Chairman of VYEA, Mr. Mai Huu Tin participated in the programs of the Young Entrepreneurs Forum in the region; in particular, he was one of the representatives of VYEA who actively participated in the process of establishing and building the Charter of the ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Association.
Social welfare activities were also promoted during this term. The Vietnamese young entrepreneurs community always cares about social charity work, organizing and participating in the journey to Quang Tri to commemorate the heroic martyrs; the journey of youth for the homeland’s sea and islands; visiting and giving gifts to victims of natural disasters, supporting the poor… with a total amount of over 100 billion VND per year.
In 2012 – 2013, the VYEA Central Committee organized working delegations to survey and work with many Young Entrepreneurs Associations in provinces and cities to exchange, share difficulties and orient the development of the Young Entrepreneurs Movement in localities; support the consolidation of the organization, promote activities, and restore the Young Entrepreneurs Movement in provinces where the Young Entrepreneurs’ activities are limited.
At the same time, the Central Committee of the Association also organized seminars to share experiences on the Association’s work and exchange between the office staff of the Young Entrepreneurs Associations of localities and sectors. In particular, in 2012, VYEA established and launched the Son La Young Entrepreneurs Club. VYEA has officially become the first business association with an organizational network in 63/63 provinces and cities and 4 economic sectors.
In this term, Vietnamese young entrepreneurs have also affirmed their self-reliance, self-reliance, dare to think, dare to do for the goal of building the country’s economy in the period of international integration, which is highly appreciated by the Party, State, all levels, sectors and society. Through the activities of the Association, it has contributed to building a brand for Vietnamese enterprises, improving their competitive capacity in international integration, and contributing to building a healthy and effective business environment for member enterprises. Young entrepreneurs have devoted much of their heart and financial resources to contributing to social work, for the life of the community.
With the achievements made, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Viet Nam Young Entrepreneurs Movement in 2013, the Viet Nam Young Entrepreneurs Association was awarded the First Class Labor Medal.
